ANGST
Wolves are back in many parts of western Europe, even in France, Benelux and Germany. And once again, many people express their irrational and unscientific fear of wolves. Indeed, wolves are being blamed for everything, although there are so few in numbers. Often, subsequent DNA analysis shows that it was once again a dog, not a wolf that caused havoc. PET DOGS KILL 15,000 SHEEP EACH YEAR IN WOLF-FREE BRITAIN! We can see in other countries that do not have any wolves, like Britain, that many domestic animals still get killed every year, like the large number of sheep: But in Britain, you can't blame the "evil wolf" because it's been instinct for some 200 years! Instead, 'stray' dogs are usually the culprits! In 2016 alone, pet dogs off the lead are said to have killed some 15,000 sheep in the U.K. (source: Telegraph, FarmingUK). The aim of this page is to assemble information on wolves, both in the wild and in captivity. We also have to educate on non-lethal methods to protect domestic animals, like sheep and cattle: livestock guardian dogs and electic fences can already provide sufficient protection for most herds (click for example here). PEOPLE LOST TOUCH WITH NATURE There is also a page on the role of wolves in religion and mythology: once, wolves were important for humans, before they were demonised by the Church (the wolf as "evil" vs. the agnus dei) and before people lost touch with Nature. In some cultures, wolves are still being worshipped today as 'divine' as you can explore on my wolf mythology pages. WOLF LINKS

ANGST
"We have made the wolf a scapegoat for our own sins." (!)
