Celtic Supreme Female Deity
In Celtic religions, we seem to be dealing with a powerful female goddess whose identity still remains rather enigmatic. According to C. Sterckx, there can only be one unique and polyvalent goddess in the Celtic pantheon; but this goddess had different names according to her functions and she could be at the same time mother and wife of all other gods, similar to her six variants in Irish myth (see Sterckx 1986, 48-50; Le Roux and Guyonvarc’h 1991, 114-5).
