There are so many associations across the world that provide support and resources to facilitate the co-existence of humans, livestock and large predators, like wolves.

This website provides an enormous amount of information relating to wolves - relevant for wolves across the world, not just France. CAP Loup, unites several societies working for the protection of the wolf in France.

CH WOLF (CH)

Excellent website with a lot of information on wolves, not just limited to Switzerland. Among others, good information on how to protect your livestock against possible wolf attacks. The website is available in several languages, like German, French, Italian and Romansh.
CHWolf.org bietet sehr gute Informationen, nicht nur über die Wölfe in der Schweiz. Unter anderem auch gute Informationen zum Herdenschutz.

This website provides useful information about wolves and wolf-human relations, combatting people's irrational fears, notably in Germany. The NABU stands for "Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V." and is dedicated to conservation of rivers, forests, birds and other animals, notably wolves!

Wolf Science Center, Wolfsforschungszentrum, A - 2115 Ernstbrunn, Austria.
Der WSC hat seine eigenen handaufgezogenen Wölfe (und Hunde) und betreibt Grundlagenforschung zum Verhalten von Wölfen und den Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Wolf, Hund und Mensch. Dadurch können Menschen über das Verhalten von Wölfen und über die besten Haltungsmöglichkeiten von Wölfen und Hunden unterrichtet werden. Es gibt mehrere Drittmittel gefördete Forschungsprojekte. Das WSC und seine Wölfe und Hunde kann man auch besuchen und zwar im Wildpark Ernstbrunn bei Wien.

UK WOLF CONSERVATION CENTRE (UK)

UK Wolf Conservation Centre, UKWCT (Britain). THE UKWCT has its own wolves in Beenham near Reading. But above all, they are supporting wolf-related conservation across Europe, Asia and the world since 2004, e.g. in Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Ethiopia, France, Greece, India, Nepal, Portugal, Russia and Spain. Projects include educational programmes, reduction of wolf-human conflicts, and for example projects on supporting the Ethiopian Wolf and the Red Wolf. Link to a list of projects worldwide.

The Wolf Museum (Musée de Loup) is a great museum dedicated to the wolf - past and present. It is situated in the village of Le Cloître Saint Thégonnec, in the west of Britanny. Worth a visit!

Living with Wolves (Idaho, US) is dedicated to engaging the public world-wide "in education, outreach and research to promote truth and understanding about wolves" as well as encouraging co-existence". The website also provides countless resources on the famous Sawtooth Pack, that was closely studied by Jim and Jamie Dutcher.

ACHLI (PT)

The Associação de Conservação do Habitat do Lobo Iberico (ACHLI - EN) is a more unusual wolf habitat conservation association: it is non-profit, but it was founded by several renewable energy companies who were developing wind energy projects in the Freita, Arada and Montemuro mountains.

LIFE: EURO LARGE CARNIVORES (EU)

The aim of Euro Large Carnivores is to provide a form to share experiences and approaches about managing the presence of large carnivores across Europe (monitoring, conflict mitigation, damage prevention, security concerns, long-term effects on agriculture and hunting, etc.). A useful resource containing many real-life accounts by people who live in "wolf country", see e.g. "Grazing with Wolves" or "Arrival of th Wolf: Simple Tools, Maximum Efficiency". LIFE is a programme by the European Commission (link to LIFE website).

FRANKFURT ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY

The Frankfurt Zoological Society is helping to preserve wolves in various parts of the world. For example, the rare Ethiopian Wolf, threatened by extinction, is protected as part of FZS's Bale Mountain Conservation Project in the Ethiopian Highlands (height: 4,000m; c.2.200km2), a place of outstanding biodiversity, in which the FZS cooperates with countless national and international partners to preserve the ecosystem and improve human-animal co-existence (link) // Der seltene, vom Aussterben bedrohte Äthiopische Wolf ist Teil des Projektes "Schutz des Bale-Mountains-National Park, Äthiopien" der Zoologischen Gesellschaft Frankfurt.

The Indian Wolf (Canis lupus pallipes) is an endangered species.
