Nottingham's first trams was a horse tram which opened in 1877, followed by the electrification from 1900 onwards. The tramway system was closed as early as 1936.
Trams were re-introduced to Nottingham in 2004. The so-called "Network Express Transit" (NET) was officiallyopeneedon 9th March 2004 and expanded on 25th August 2015, now consisting of :
  • two lines - covering 32 km
  • standard gauge, 1,435mm
  • 50 stations
  • some 18 million passengers p.a.
  • overhead wire: 750 V DC
  • max. speed: 80km/h for the Bombardie Incentro and 70km/h for the Citadis
  • trams: 15 Bombardier Incentro AT6/5 (built 2004, unique to Nottingham) and 22 newer Alstom Citadis 302 - each around 32/33 meters long.
